Uber den Künstler

Pieter Daniël Dik is a Dutch artist from Alkmaar whose drawings already displayed an abundance of talent at a very young age. After finishing crafts school, Dik became an organ builder. At age 22 however, Dik decided to dedicate his life to painting and started making studies of animals in the dunes and in forests. Dik soon establishes himself as a renowned painter of wildlife in Northern Europe and North America. His works are especially appreciated by hunters and are even acquired by the Belgian King. Even though his reputation as a painter increasingly grows, Dik remains honest and spends his days painting in nature.

Already at age 41, Pieter Dik passed away in Schoorl in 1984. His paintings were posthumously featured in an exhibition in the Singer Museum in Laren. His paintings are now located all over the world in multiple museums, such as the Nature in Art Museum in Gloucester and the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin.
